Open Doors Day at the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova: event details

On the day of the Parliament's 34th anniversary, the legislative institution will open its doors to all citizens. Visitors will be able to talk to deputies, discover the rooms where the most important decisions are made, and supplement their knowledge about democracy and parliamentarism. Open Doors Day will be organized on Friday, May 23, starting at 1:00 p.m.

The event program includes interactive activities for all age groups. A space dedicated to children will be set up, where young visitors will be able to draw, arrange puzzles, and learn interesting facts about the Parliament by solving crossword puzzles. A face painting session will also be organized for them.

A bag decorating workshop will be held for visitors of different ages. Those interested will be able to personalize a bag made of ecological material, which they will receive as a gift. At the same time, those who want to test their knowledge of parliamentarism and democracy will be able to participate in online or physical quizzes, and those who answer correctly will receive gifts.

A treasure hunt for children and young people, called "Discover the Parliament", will also be organized in the Parliament Square. Participants will receive a map with several locations, where they will be challenged to participate in thinking, creativity and observation tests. Also in the Parliament Square, the two vintage cars previously used to transport high-ranking officials will be exhibited throughout the day. These are the "Gaz-14" limousine, manufactured in 1987, and the "ZIL 41047", manufactured in 1989, which were used by former presidents Mircea Snegur and Petru Lucinschi.

Guided tours of the Parliament building will be organized for visitors, and the guides will be deputies and civil servants. The route includes the Parliament Museum, the plenary hall, the Europa Hall and other rooms where meetings are held on the legislative platform. And the bravest will be able to simulate a press conference or a simultaneous translation exercise.

On the occasion of the Open Day, three thematic exhibitions will also be set up. They will photographically illustrate the Flower Bridge from 35 years ago and the parliaments of the European Union member states. The works of students from the Technical University of Moldova, who drew the Parliament building during a plein-air, recently organized, will also be exhibited.

During the event, participants will have the opportunity to talk with deputies, as well as leave messages, suggestions or questions for parliamentarians, in a specially arranged box in the Parliament Square.

On the occasion of Open Doors Day, we invite visitors to come to the Parliament with a book for children or adolescents, thus joining the campaign organized by the Parliament "We give a book". The books will be donated to the beneficiaries of the day centers of the "Diaconia" Social Mission, on the occasion of International Children's Day.

Obviously, a photo zone will also be organized in the Parliament Square, so that everyone can immortalize the experience and emotions experienced at Open Doors Day.

It should be noted that visitor access will be based on their identity card, without the need for a prior appointment. Children do not need identity documents, but must be accompanied by an adult.
